We’re thrilled to announce our new relationship with Guayakí and the introduction of their fabulous certified-organic, rainforest-grown Yerba Maté beverages to our product line-up. Our new alliance is particularly inspiring because Café Campesino and Guayakí share the same deep commitment to sustainable trade and the vision of a better world. Further, we believe that Guayakí’s yerba maté drinks are not only a fantastic complement to our line up of 100% Fair Trade, organic, shade grown coffees, but also expand Café Campesino’s reach as a Fair Trade coffee company. Café Campesino also has a personal connection to yerba maté and the great work of Guayakí — Tripp’s wife and daughter Maria Sol hail from Paraguay and the yerba maté tradition in their family is a strong and enduring one. Like Café Campesino Fair Trade coffee, Guayakí yerba maté brings people together, which, after all, is what we’re all about!

For a little background, the name Guayakí (Gwy-uh-KEE) represents their connection to the rainforest and commitment to its people. Guayakí is the name of a group of indigenous people living in the South American rainforest where the maté tree grows. Guayakí’s yerba maté is grown and hand-picked in the shade of the rainforest canopy, then traditionally wood-aged to complement its natural and earthy flavor. For centuries, yerba maté has been shared daily among friends as a healthy and stimulating drink. Guayakí goes BEYOND ORGANIC to embrace sustainability, Fair Trade, and conservation in every energizing cup of yerba maté.

Guayakí’s yerba maté products are now available in our online store in the Teas, Yerba Maté & Chais section. Choose from a variety of Organic Packaged Guayakí Yerba Maté Tea Bags and Loose Maté, Traditional Maté Latte and Maté Chai Latte concentrates, and Maté Gourds and Bombillas, artisan-crafted in the heart of South America.
