Whew…April’s done and we’re finally returning to a more evenly paced life…or are we?

On Friday April 28th through Sunday the 30th, Geoffrey was where he is every year…serving up Café Campesino (and a little Guayaki Yerba Mate to boot) and talking Fair Trade with the folks riding in this year’s Bicycle Ride Across Georgia’s Spring Tune-Up in Madison, Georgia. Thanks Geoffrey for your hard work and congrats to everyone who rode! Stay tuned for more info about this summer’s BRAG, which runs from Dalton to Augusta from June 10th through the 17th…and yes, Geoffrey and crew will be there!

Saturday, May 6th: Geoffrey will be at Ten Thousand Villages in Atlanta to help our friends there celebrate Fair Trade Day. Between 11 am and 2 pm, Geoffrey will be serving tasty samples of Café Campesino coffee. Throughout the day, folks who visit the store can take Ten Thousand Villages’ Fair Trade Facts quiz. Each answer is worth 5% off your purchase (up to 20% off!). For more information, visit their website and click on the World Fair Trade Day link.

Saturday, May 13th: Celebrate World Fair Trade Day with Café Campesino! Everyone (though we realize southwest Georgia may be a tad far for many of our customers and other friends) is invited to join Café Campesino for the 2006 World Fair Trade Day celebration on Saturday May 13th. From 10 am to 2 pm, Café Campesino will be at Rylander Park (across the street from Monroe’s on West Lamar Street), offering free samples of our locally-roasted Fair Trade, organic coffees and providing information about our work as a 100% Fair Trade organic coffee company.

Joining in the celebration of this year’s World Fair Trade Day at Rylander Park will be our very own Three Frontiers Trading Company, Americus’ supplier of Fair Trade artisan handcrafts and furnishings from throughout the developing world. While we’re serving up our fresh-roasted coffee, Three Frontiers will be holding its first annual Christmas in May sidewalk sale. Everything from toys to home decorations to world music cds will be available for folks who want to give the gift of Fair Trade.

The following is a summary of the events we have planned for World Fair Trade Day:

10:00 am – 2:00 pm: Rylander Park (across from the Rylander Theatre on West Lamar Street). Come browse Fair Trade crafts and goods for sale from Three Frontiers Trading Company, sample delicious fairly traded iced mocha and ice teas, and learn more about Fair Trade and how you can be a part of the action.

7:00 – 9:00 pm: Café Campesino, 725 Spring St. Join us for an international potluck supper followed by a screening of The Gods Must Be Crazy. Food, friends, and a fun evening with our neighbors…all in the name of Fair Trade. Everyone is asked to bring a favorite dish to share and lawn chair or blanket for a walk-in movie experience.
