Summer is upon us and things are heating up. In fact, we saw 93 degrees this past Monday afternoon. Ah, southwest Georgia summers… que calor! As we give thanks for the cooler temperatures we enjoy inside our coffee house and office space, we think about the hard work that goes into growing, harvesting, and processing coffee beans. As we’ve said many times before, coffee is perhaps the most labor intensive crop in the world. Blessings on the farming families that bring us these great tasting coffees.

And blessings to our own Maty, Bill, and Tripp as they embark on their excellent adventure to Guatemala. This Café Campesino “road crew” traveled out on Wednesday and are due in Guatemala City about the time this email hits your inbox. Read more about their itinerary in Community Caravan.

Another Café Campesino “road crew” heads out later this week to once again serve BRAG Brew at the Bike Ride Across Georgia, a 300+ mile adventure beginning in Hiawassee, GA. They’ll follow that up a week later when they arrive in Ellijay, GA, to join the Paddle Georgia event to serve coffee and help raise awareness to the need for conservation and protection of our waterways. Once again, you can read more about the event in Community Caravan.

And keep reading this edition for some interesting notes on one of our cooperatives in Ethiopia, a delicious recipe from the coffee house, a soulful quote, as well as the reemergence of a fun section that, this month, will ask you for some recycling input. Oh yeah, and there’s a special offering at the end of this writing that we hope you will consider.

Hope you enjoy this edition of Fair Grounds. Cheers.
