Recipe: Cafe au Lait

This version is tailored for preparation in the comfort of your own home.

Classically, this recipe requires 1 part coffee and 1 part milk.

We recommend our Mexico Chiapas (the February newletter special) but Dark or French Roast coffees are commonly used as well.

  1. Brew your coffee, ideally, using the French Press method.
    Drip brew coffee will suffice if you don’t have a French Press.
  2. Heat your milk in a sauce pan on the stove top, being careful not to boil it as it will scald.
  3. Once the milk is heated to steaming, mix 1 part milk with 1 part of your freshly-brewed coffee in a wide-mouth latte cup or small bowl.

Enjoy with your favorite coffee snack, perhaps a baguette or a biscotti.
